These are some of my best works from Digital Photography II. Throughout Digital Photography II, I definitely think I improved as a photographer. There were times when I found it difficult to get things done, but I feel like I can walk away from this class knowing many things regarding photo-taking and photoshop. My favorite type of photography is taking photos of nature. I enjoyed learning how to do HDR and different tutorials. I learned so much regarding photoshop, from framing to blending. In the future, I would like to take these skills with me, and make something more out of a hobby.

This was the one of the last assignments for Digital Photography II. I was granted the choice of what to do, so I decided to take photos and merge them to HDR. It was fairly easy, and although I could have picked a better setting, I am pleased with my finished photos. I used a different effect for each photo (they are captioned). Converting photos to HDR has been one of my favorite things to do in this class, particularly in photoshop.
Taking photos with shadows and light was a little challenging - it's a very open topic and requires some creativity. I enjoyed this assignment, but I could have used different places and backgrounds. Shadows and light is something I can work on a little more, for sure, but I am overall pleased with my photos.
For this assignment, my objective was to recreate an ad of my choice in photoshop. The picture on the right is whatI chose for a model. The one on the left is my final product, which consists of some photos I took of my own phone. I edited them in camera raw, used the quick selection tool, and added text, which was a bit frustrating. Trying to match my picture to the ad overall was difficult. On top of that, the time it took for me to finish this was more time-consuming than I thought, but I think I didn't do too bad.
I chose to take photos with movement for this assignment. It was a bit hard to get a good angle for some of them, and I had to try setting the right shutter speed more than once. However, most of these photos didn't turn out blurry and I enjoyed taking them. This assignment helped me become for comfortable with taking these kinds of photos. Now, I really enjoy taking photos with motion, and I look forward to taking more in the future.
I chose to take photos in macro mode for this assignment. In the past, I struggled with taking macro photos in the past, but I think I improved a lot. I tried using/setting better exposure, a small shutter speed, and a large aperture. I am pleased with what I came up with, and I think some of these photos are my best so far.
For this assignment, I had to take photos on different people doing something dynamic.
On the left is one of my friends running, and my sister is playing the viola on the right. I used the quick selection tool and path blur in photoshop for the photo on the left. In the right picture, I used the camera raw filter to bring out some details, used the quick selection tool, and set the background to monochromatic. I really like how these turned out, and had fun taking the photos themselves. This was one of my favorite assignments to do so far. My objective was to take a few different photos of myself, each with a different background, effect, and mood to them.
My sister took the 1st and 3rd one for me, and I used a self-timer and tripod for the rest. The 2nd one takes place in the school. I used the quick selection tool and simply set the background to monochromatic. In the 2nd one, I put my bisexual flag on the wall in my bedroom for a background. I used my desk lamp for lighting, and added a lighting effect in photoshop. The 3rd one was taken outside my house by my sister. I only used a posterize effect in photoshop. I took the 4th one myself in my bedroom, and used blur, curve adjustment with strong contrast, and set it to monochromatic. I got to develop my photo-taking and photoshop skills, and I look forward to taking more portrait photos of myself in the future. For this assignment, I chose a fairly easy tutorial to do in photoshop. I learned how to change a photo to look monochromatic and how to use the history brush to bring back some of the color. I am really pleased with how the final product turned out, and I would definitely use the skills I learned in the future.

Welcome to My Blog!
My name is Janessa Dabney. This is my blog for Digital Photography 1 and 2. I originally took these classes to complete my high school tech credit. I chose photography because I have always loved taking pictures, and wanted to improve my photo-taking skills. I have learned a lot so far, but I hope to learn more. I want to work on shooting photos with movement, in macro mode, and better exposure. With that all said, I look forward to using photography in the future. |
